Mid-term break dah start dah! Finally!! I really need a breather!
InsyaAllah 2 weeks cukup for me to cover back everything yang I x sempat cover. Seriously sambung Masters is one of the experiences yang so mencabar and at the same time very rewarding jugak. This mid-sem break I decided to not pegi tempat-tempat jauh (dek kekangan assignments). I ingat nak try explore Canberra dulu la since Canberra pun tak habis round lagi. Hehe.
So, yesterday, on Day 2 of mid-sem break, Kak Ayn so impromptu sangat tiba-tiba suggest pegi apple-picking. And I'm like, why not right? Another part of Canberra to be explored! So at around 3pm like that me, Kak Ayn n Zack gerak to Pialligo. Google dalam internet the place tu namanya Pialligo la kan. Tapi sebenarnya ada banyak orchards to choose from. So we just gamble and drive towards Pialligo; wherever that is (actually Pialligo tu near to Canberra Airport jaa, hehe).
So, the moment masuk Beltana Road tu, alongside the road kiri kanan semua orchards and nurseries. So boleh pilih lah which farm you'd like to pick apples from kan. Tapi I guess since we pegi ni bulan April and dah masuk Autumn kat Aussie ni, hence tak banyak apples lagi dah available untuk picking. Among the first few orchards yang we passed by tu, mostly dah tutup. Drive dalam sikit, terjumpa la Tanbella's Orchard ni and we terus masuk. Time we all sampai tu pun, ada lebih kurang sejam lagi nak tutup orchard tu.
Masuk-masuk ja, memang friendly one of the lady farmers yang jaga the orchard situ. So before masuk, diorang akan give us pamphlet la kan for us to navigate in the farm nanti and also satu baldi untuk simpan apples yang we kutip.
Above: Me tengah pegang pamphlet and Kak Ayn tengah pegang baldi.
Tapi yeah, since dah Autumn ni, cuma a small portion ja of the orchard tu yang we can explore.Yang lain the apple trees either takda buah anymore or baru nak tumbuh apples nya.
So waktu tengah picking tu, boleh petik any apples you like and taste them on the spot la. That one free of charge. So kalau larat, makan la seberapa banyak pun. Nanti apples yang dah dikutip in our baldi tadi tu, itu ja yang diorang akan charge. Hehe.
The types yang we all sempat merasa during dalam Tanbella tu are Red Delicious, Jonathan, Golden Delicious and Mixed Heritage. But in my opinion, the best among all is Golden Delicious. Ya Allah simply the best! Jonathan tu masam manis sikit. Mixed Heritage pun okay. Tapi my vote still goes to Golden Delicious la. In fact, kan I dulu pakai braces, and Dentist tak sarankan lah makan apple main gigit terus. And dulu kat Malaysia I ada lah try-try nak makan apple terus gigit kan, tapi serious keras. I guess extra keras sebab preservative kot? Tapi yang we baru pick ni, wah, crunchy memang crunchy, tapi still bite-able la. Tak sooo keras macam apples yang I ever ate kat Malaysia. But that's my opinion la kan. Hehe. So enjoy my photo-dumping gambar-gambar kitorang at Tanbella's Orchard below.
Above: I'm not sure pulak yang ni mana satu. I rasa ni yang Red Delicious apples kot. But they're so red kan? Ada satu dah ditebuk ulat pula.
Above: Golden Delicious. Delicious sangat lah! Nang nyaman! Credits to Zack.
Above: Ini candid ni. Nampak bah lengan me besar kaki gajah.
Above: Comelnya anak-anak Aussie ni. Sampai macam tu sekali mulut anak Aussie ni ambik gambar. Haha. I think I can relate. Bila apply mascara, tak semena-mena our mouth melopong kan? Sapa pernah like that sila angkat tangan! I know I do!
Above: Kat sini pun ada jual yang dah they siap petik. So if you're in a hurry and dah ada the apple types yang you nak in mind, then beli ja from this stand. Aside from apples, diorang also jual other produce like tomatoes, capsicum, etc. (see below). Pumpkin besar yang orange macam in Cinderella pun diorang ada jual. Tapi I lupa pulak nak ambik gambar.
And lastly, my favourite picture of the day!
Above: Nak pose camni lah untuk wedding nanti. Tapi without double chin lah. Hehe. Credits sangat-sangat to Zack for this picture! Thank you lah sempat kasi me berangan kejap jadik bride. Gambar ni pun ada in my Instagram.
Okay, quite a long post dah so I'll just stop here. Part 2 of 3rd April Outing nanti will cover our dinner at IKEA Canberra pulak. After dah petik-petik buah penat kan. Pekena IKEA meatballs sedap ni, betul tak?
Cheers,
Alina
